Lamisil or terfinabine HCl is used to treat fungus on the toenail and fingernails. This fungus lives under the sheath of the nail and derives its nutrition from the blood. The fungi use the nail as a protective shield. Most of the drugs earlier prescribed by doctors either takes a long time to react or do not cause any change. Lamisil is said to stop the fungus from building its cell membranes. This would prevent it from reproducing and growing. Lamisil has been used to treat fungus affected nails since 1991. Lamisil is associated with dizziness and headache but you do not have to worry about it. Lamisil is available as a 250mg tablet which can be taken orally. Other drugs have either been polishes or varnishes and could not penetrate the thick nail surface.
